Inzamam fails to turn up

ABU DHABI, April 17: Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq set a bad example when he failed to turn up for media briefing at a local hotel on Monday evening to unveil the two-match ODI series.

While Rahul Dravid, the India captain, was first to arrive for the briefing, Pakistan were represented by team coach Bob Woolmer and chef-de-mission, Saleem Altaf, both of whom showed up separately.

The proceedings started late after Woolmer and Saleem informed journalists that they had no knowledge of Inzamam's whereabouts and the reason for his absence.

The two officials of the Pakistan team failed to provide any detail as to why Inzamam failed to turn up.

This is not the first time that Inzamam had let Pakistan team down by missing pre-match conference.

The proceedings then started without any hitch with Dravid answering queries in his articulate manner and praised the Pakistan team without making any firm prediction about the outcome of the series.

Sponsors and local organisers of the series were far from happy with Inzamam’s total apathy for not turning up for such an important event.
