SWABI: Tajir Aman Dost Group affiliated to Awami National Party (ANP) emerged victorious in the Swabi city entrepreneur elections while defeating arch-rival Tajir Dost Group here on Sunday.

The polling started at the Tehsil Municipal Administration building at 8am and continued without any interval till 5pm. The traders of the city participated with great enthusiasm while exercising their right to vote and the organisers took a sigh of relief after peaceful conclusion of the voting.

According to results, Yasir Khan got 966 votes while same number of votes were received by Tahir Bacha. The rival groups got 433 votes each by the candidates for president and general secretary slots.

Yasir Khan was elected as president and Tahir Bacha as general secretary along with other leaders of their panel.

Soon after the announcement of result, celebrations erupted in the district headquarters and the winner group leaders were overjoyed. They later said that they would work for the welfare of the shopkeepers of Swabi city and pledged that they would not make empty promises.

Yasir Khan said that the fund collected by them from different sources would be spent on the welfare of traders, and those who indulged in baseless propaganda would be exposed.

Tahir Bacha said that they were certain about their success and it was commendable that all the traders had used their democratic right peacefully.
