BAJAUR: A child died and two others were injured when roof of a room and veranda of a house collapsed in a hilly area of Mamund tehsil here on Thursday.

Local residents and Rescue 1122 officials said that the incident occurred in Shakroo locality just after sunset when a room and veranda of the house of Mir Hassan suddenly collapsed.

They said that Najeeb Khan, 10, died on the spot while two other children were wounded critically in the tragedy. The cause of the incident was stated to be the recent rain.

Soon after the incident, residents of the nearby streets immediately rushed to the site to retrieved victims from the debris. The wounded children, whose ages were believed to be between 8 and 10, were instantly shifted to Khar District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a team of the district administration officials visited the area and handed over a package of different relief items to the affected family.

According to a statement from DC office, the victim family would be compensated in accordance with the policy of Provincial Disaster Management Authority.
