KARACHI: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Thursday decided to take strict action against violations of the fast lane on motorways and highways.
These and other decisions were taken in a meeting chaired by Inspector General of NHMP, Riffat Mukhtar Raja during his visit to South Zone, Karachi.
The meeting participants, which reviewed ongoing operations, also decided to show ‘zero tolerance’ for overloaded vehicles on national highways and motorways.
The participants, while emphasising the importance of strict enforcement of traffic laws and improved operational efficiency, also vowed to ensure that overloaded vehicles were prohibited from entry into motorways and legal action would be initiated against violators of the law.
The IG directed for strengthening of efforts to enhance road safety and security on all national highways while prioritising convenience for road users, ensuring professional service delivery.
He also encouraged the field officers to demonstrate the positive impact of NHMP’s professional standards.
DIG Asghar Ali Yousafzai provided a comprehensive briefing on the operational status and achievements of the South Zone.
