RAWALPINDI: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has devised a new plan for the beautification of Murree Road and Raja Bazaar, starting by next month.
Talking to Dawn, PHA Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha said that the plan aims to beautify Murree Road from Saddar to Faizabad.
“We will involve private firms in this regard and will allocate a small space for advertisement on the pillars to cover the cost,” he said.
He added that the design for the beautification would be given by PHA and lights would be used beautification.
Ranjha noted that the PHA would plant trees and establish flower beds in Raja Bazaar to give a greener look to the area.
He said that he had directed the agency to utilise plants in its nurseries to minimise the cost.
“We will also start face-lifting of historical buildings on Murree Road and in this regard, PHA has identified some buildings.
The original structures of historical buildings will be preserved while lights will be installed to enhance their night look,” he said.
He added that PHA would also improve shops’ signboards in Rawalpindi to address challenges created by over-sized signboards.
“PHA would hold a meeting with traders soon to implement the signboard improvement plan within a month.
