ISLAMABAD: An official of Islamabad Traffic Police was shot dead by three motorbike riders in the limits of Industrial Area police station on Sunday morning.

One of the suspects was arrested by the police and the other two managed to flee from the place of the incident.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of the incident and also paid homage to traffic police personnel Zubair Shah.

According to a police official, Constable Zubair Shah signaled three motorbike riders to stop, as they were looking suspicious because of their appearance.

“However, the suspects opened fire instead of stopping their motorbike. Zubair Shah later succumbed to his injuries. However police officials arrested one of the suspects and shifted him to Industrial Area police station.

“The other two suspects managed to flee but an investigation has been started and they will be arrested at the earliest,” he said.

“The incident took place outside the traffic police office. During the investigation, crucial evidence was also collected to find out the cause of death,” he said.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tributes to Traffic police personnel Zubair Shah.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, saying, “We stand with the grieving family in this hour of sorrow”.

He ordered immediate arrest of the culprits, directing authorities to bring them to justice swiftly and ensure that Zubair Shah’s family receives justice.

Furthermore, Mohsin Naqvi said the government will take full care of the martyr’s family.

Later, Constable Zubair Shah’s funeral prayer was offered at Police Line Headquarters, which was attended by Inspector General of Police and other officials. It was announced that the martyred official would be laid to rest in H-11 graveyard.

On the other, hand IG Islamabad has vowed to arrest the culprits and provide justice to the family of martyred police official.

During the last over a decade, the number of police officials have died in the firing of suspects.
