LAHORE: Singer Jawad Ahmad and his men allegedly thrashed a couple of officials of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) after they detected power theft at a beauty salon in Johar Town.

Lesco authorities have submitted an application to the respective police station for registration of a case against the singer and his men for beating and harassing its staff beside snatching the faulty meter from them after they reached the premises owned by the singer’s wife, according to Lesco Airline subdivision SDO Muhammad Asghar.

“I and some of our officials on Wednesday evening were accompanying the Lesco monitoring and laboratory team. When the team checked the meter installed at the salon of singer’s wife, it was found to be tempered with. Its one phase was also dead,” SDO Afzal told Dawn.

He said the team removed the meter. But, in the meanwhile, the singer along with three unknown people reached the spot and started quarrelling with the team members. They, according to him, not only snatched the meter but also thrashed two staffers.

“When I found the situation turning ugly, I called police which drove all of us to the police station where we asked police to make the singer return us the meter and pay detection bill. We also asked police to register a case but to no avail,” he said.

“Police rather asked us to settle the issue there and then and did not register the case. I brought this issue to the knowledge of my seniors who approached senior police officials,” the SDO added.
