ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Sunday claimed that construction activities on all sections of the F-8 flyover were progressing round-the-clock as per schedule.

The project is supposed to be completed by February 15. A press release issued by the CDA on Sunday said Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa along with the member engineering and other officers visited the F-8 Jinnah Avenue Interchange and F-10 roundabout projects to review the construction activities. During the visit, the chairman was informed that the base slabs of the flyover had been completed while work on vertical and final slabs was expected to be finished within this month.

Additionally, work on two deck slabs of the bridge connecting Jinnah Avenue with F-10 has also been completed. The CDA chief also reviewed the engineering remodeling design aimed at improving traffic flow at the F-10 roundabout.

He was told about the protected U-turn being constructed on Jinnah Avenue and the process of tree transplantation involved in the project. Slip roads in the project have been designed to ensure no trees are affected.

The CDA chairman directed that Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA)’s tree transplanter be utilised to safely relocate large trees to alternative locations.

Officers on the occasion said a protected U-turn was under construction on Nazimuddin Road near F-10.

“Construction activities across all sections of the project are progressing 24/7 as per schedule. Chairman CDA expressed satisfaction with the construction progress on the Jinnah Avenue Interchange,” read the press release.

Meanwhile, the CDA chief also visited the under-construction Serena Interchange, which has already missed its initial deadline of 60 days (January 5).

Mr Randhawa was told that Serena Underpass on Suharwardy Road had been completed and opened to traffic.

Additionally, two underpasses under-construction on Srinagar Highway will be opened to traffic in the current month.

The chairman instructed that landscaping and horticulture work be prioritised to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the project. He also directed for the installation of attractive permanent lights and digital screens around the project sites.

Meanwhile, the CDA chairman visited under-construction C-14 to review the progress of ongoing development work. According to press release, he was told that over 90pc of the road infrastructure work had been completed along with more than 50pc of the drainage and sewerage work. The remaining work will be completed soon.

He directed that the pace of development work should be further accelerated. The possession of plots will be handed over to the allottees upon payment of the final installment, he added.

Recently, CDA sold out 236 plots against Rs14 billion (Rs60 million per kanal).
