SUKKUR: The Kandhkot police on Sunday claimed to have shot dead a suspected gangster and wounded his two associates during an encounter in the Zorgarh area, falling within the limits of the Bakhshapur police station.

They said a police team moved into action upon receiving a tip-off about presence of a gang of outlaws at a specified place. The gangsters noticing the police party coming close to them opened fire, which was returned, they added.

One of the suspected gangsters was killed and two others wounded in the encounter, they said.

The fleeing gangsters took away the wounded fellows into the nearby riverine area, they claimed.

The police did not mention the name of the dead dacoit, but said a motorcycle and a weapon found near his body were seized.
