KURRAM: The ongoing operation against the miscreants in Bagan and other areas of lower Kurram continued for the third consecutive day on Tuesday, however, no casualties were reported.

Sources said that gunship helicopters were strafing miscreants’ hideouts Bagan, Uchat, Charkhel and Dadkhel areas of Lower Kurram as well as Zarana and other areas of central Kurram. In addition to this, a door-to-door search operation was also being conducted in Bagan and other adjacent areas.

Officials in the district administration said that it was agreed in the recent peace agreement that authorities would take action wherever any incident of violence took place.

They said the authorities were taking all actions to implement the 14-point peace accord, signed by the warring sides on December 31 last year.

Meanwhile, the closure of roads for the last 116 days was heaping miseries of local population in upper Kurram.

Ali Hadi Irfani, MPA from Kurram, demanded that the roads should be opened and be made secure for the travellers. He said the airlifting of medicines from Peshawar to Parachinar was commendable and it should continue.

Earlier on Sunday night, security forces had launched an operation in Bagan and other areas after an attack on an aid convoy to Parachinar left two security personnel and several drivers martyred.
