KARACHI, April 20: Another victim of the Nishtar Park bombing died in a hospital here on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 49.

The victim was identified as Nasir Ansari, resident of Orangi Town’s Sector 11-½. He was stated to be affiliated with the Sunni Tehrik. His body was shifted from the Civil Hospital to his residence for final rites.

A powerful bomb exploded at a Nishtar Park public gathering in connection with Eid Mildun Nabi on April 11, killing at least 46 people and injuring 103 others. Three of the injured later died at various hospitals. Top leaders of the Sunni Tehrik, and other religious scholars and prominent personalities were among the dead.

Police said it was a terrorist act executed by a suicide bomber. The explosive type C4 was used in the bomb weighing around five kilograms.

Culprits: The provincial Home Minister, Rauf Siddiqui, has said the Nishtar Park incident was like ‘stabbing in the back of the nation’, and vowed to expose all the characters of this sinister plot, adds PPI.

“I am working day and night, and would shortly make all details of this conspiracy public,” he said while addressing the lunching ceremony of a book Aur Main Pakistan Agaya at the Arts Council of Pakistan here on Wednesday.
