KARACHI: Asad Zaman, Amir Mazari and Mohammad Salar moved into the Under-18 semi-finals of the Ghazi and Magsi National Juniors and Seniors Tennis Championship here at the Modern Club on Tuesday.

Asad downed Nabeel Qayum 7-5, 6-2 while Amir beat Ruhab Faisal 6-2, 6-2. Salar, meanwhile, registered a thumping 6-0, 6-1 win over Junaid Mehar to confirm the last-four spot.

Mohammad Junaid, Rohan Das and Ansarullah recorded victories in the boys Under-14 second round while Ibrahim Hussain, Arsh Imran and Mohammad Muaz progressed into boys’ Under-12 semi-finals after comfortable wins.

Ashar Bhaila and Arsh won registered flawless 4-0, 4-0 wins in the boys’ Under-10 category while Emaan Malik also advanced into the second round after winning her girls’ Under-12 fixture against Emaan Malik.

Romesa Malik will compete for the girls’ Under-14 title against Rania Bus on Thursday.

In one-sided semis, Romesa, hailing from Punoon Aqil, routed Zainab Afnan 4-0, 4-0 and Rania defeated Emaan Shahbaz 4-0, 4-2.

Asad also booked his spot in the men’s semi-finals after receiving a walkover win against Ismail Aftab. Kashan Tariq and Ruhab also advanced after winning against Muneer Derbari and Ibrahim Iltifat, respectively.

Action in boys Under-18 doubles also kicked off as the duo of Nabeel Qayum and Muzammil Bhand overpowered the pair of Hamza and Rohan 6-3, 6-0 while Ruhab and Ismail Aftab hammered the team of Anis and Sameer 6-1, 6-1.
