LAKKI MARWAT: A prayer leader was shot dead inside a room adjacent to a mosque in Khoidadkhel area of Lakki Marwat on Saturday.

The police said that Mishkatullah opened fire on Maulana Mumtaz, 47, when he reached the mosque to lead the morning prayers. They said that the prayer leader sustained serious bullet wounds and died instantly.

They said that the killer was arrested after the murder and a pistol used in the crime was seized from him. “The deceased and the killer had developed a dispute over announcement for prayers a few days ago,” they said, quoting Mirza Ali Khan, brother of the deceased, as saying.

The police said that the body was shifted to the Government City Hospital for postmortem, and a case was registered against the killer under relevant sections of law in the city police station.
