KARACHI: A man was shot dead by armed robbers soon after he left his residence in Federal B Area on Saturday, police said.

The Jauharabad police identified the victim as Moiz Hafeez, 40, and said that the robbers killed him near Royal Bakery in Block 15.

Area SHO Rashid Rehman Din told Dawn that as the victim left his residence on a motorbike, armed men riding a two-wheeler and wearing a helmet and a mask intercepted him on a street. Apparently, they held him at gunpoint and demanded his cell phone. After a scuffle, they opened fire on him and fled.

The victim’s brother told the police that after hearing gunshot, he came out from the house and saw two motorcyclists fleeing while his brother was lying on the road with his laptop and the bike. He said his mobile phone was missing.

Hafeez was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
