Adamjee Insurance partners with FFC

Adamjee Insurance Company Limited announces its partnership with Fauji Fertiliser Company Limited (FFC) to launch the Zarai Tahafuz Programme, a comprehensive crop insurance initiative, as per a press release.

This landmark collaboration, facilitated through FFC’s extensive network of Sona Centres, is designed to empower Pakistan’s farmers by offering financial security against unpredictable agricultural risks. The Zarai Tahafuz Programme aims to provide tailored insurance solutions to safeguard crops from natural disasters, plant diseases, pest attack, and other adversities, ensuring farmers’ resilience and stability in the face of challenges.

Speaking on this collaboration, Muhammad Ali Zeb, the CEO and Managing Director of Adamjee Insurance, said: “Through the Zarai Tahafuz Programme, we aim to provide farmers with the confidence and protection they need to thrive, even amidst uncertainties. This partnership with FFC exemplifies our dedication to farmer welfare and our mission to contribute to the nation’s food security.”

Jahangir Piracha, Chief Executive & Managing Director, Fauji Fertiliser Company, remarked: “By collaborating with Adamjee Insurance, we aim to alleviate the financial burden on farmers caused by crop losses and reinforce their confidence in agricultural investments.”

UMT at THE Awards Asia 2025

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2025 in the category of “Leadership and Management Team of the Year” as per a press release. This recognition makes UMT the only Pakistani university to be selected in this category, marking a significant achievement on the global stage.

According to Times Higher Education rankings, UMT ranks among the top 801-1000 universities globally. The selection for the Asia Awards is based on key criteria such as innovation in leadership, measurable outcomes, and improvements in organisational practices.

On this accomplishment, President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad expressed his pride, stating, “UMT’s nomination for the Asia Awards is not just a moment of pride for our institution but for the entire nation. We have successfully elevated Pakistan’s name on an international platform,” he added.

Mr Murad congratulated the entire UMT family, emphasising that this recognition is a testament to the university’s relentless commitment, hard work and dedication. The winners of the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2025 will be announced in April and UMT looks forward to competing for this prestigious recognition.

KE camps across Karachi

To boost recovery efforts from otherwise chronic defaulting areas and facilitate customers by addressing their problems at their doorsteps, K-Electrict (KE) has organised over 40 Customer Facilitation Camps since the beginning of January 2025, as per a press release.

These camps aim to facilitate customers with electricity-related services and promote timely bill payments. As part of this initiative, an awareness march was also conducted at the Sindh Isdustrial Trading Estate and Orangi Town on Jan 23, led by Sadia Dada, the Chief Distribution and Marketing Officer at KE. The march involved interactions with local elected representatives and local community leaders to discuss the benefits of the scheme.

“Our recovery camps are designed to make essential services more accessible and strengthen our partnership with communities,” said Ms Dada.

Meanwhile, KE’s anti-theft initiatives have been instrumental in addressing illegal electricity use, with over 143,000 illegal connections removed so far since the beginning of FY24-25, weighing over 171,000kg. Recent reviews highlight that improved recovery in areas such as Orangi Town, Shamsi Colony, and Empress Market among others, resulted in reduced loadshedding.

Pakistan to Europe maritime service

The weekly maritime service, India North Europe Express (INX) has been launched in Pakistan, which will help timely and efficient delivery of Pakistani goods to the destined European ports and beyond, as per a press release.

The initiative of maritime service will streamline logistics, enhance connectivity, and drive economic growth in the region.

The service will commence its operation on Feb 5. The maiden voyage will be starting from Karachi with the port rotation including Karachi, Hazira, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, London Gateway, Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Antwerp, before returning to Karachi. The INX will directly link Western India to Northern Europe. It is designed as a weekly maritime service, turning around in 11 weeks with 6,000TEU container ships.
