LAHORE: Public-fanc­ied chestnut Brooklyn ridden by Awais Anjum comfortably won the Thrill Cup during the Lahore Winter Meeting here at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Owned by Mohammad Khalid and trained by Rana Mohammad Arshad, Brook­lyn took lead right from the start to the Thrill Cup, a class VI handicap 1,200-metre race, as he beat bay horse Mighty Macs in a small field of six starters.

In the supporting event, the Syed Tasvir Hussain Me­morial Cup for class VII division 11, rank outsider bay filly Luna Afzaal upstaged favourite bay filly Qismat by a short-head in a ding-dong tussle between the two.

Run over 1,100 metres, the winner which was owned jointly by M/s Najeeb Haider Baghri and Afzaal Ahmad, was partnered by Awais Anjum and trained by Rashid Latif.

Dark-bay colt Sakhi, who won the first race on his maiden outing, and bay colt Dominous owned by Syed Pervaiz Hussain who won the fourth race, were the most impressive victors of the day.
