KARACHI: A delegation of the Awami National Party (ANP), led by its central president Senator Aimal Wali Khan, called on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday.

A brief PPP statement said that the two political leaders expressed concern over the poor security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in Kurram district.

It said Sindh ANP president Shahi Syed also accompanied Senator Aimal Wali.

Earlier on Sunday night, the ANP organised a big public meeting at Bagh-i-Jinnah to mark the 35th death anniversary of Bacha Khan and 19th death anniversary of Khan Abdul Wali Khan.

Paying tributes to Bacha Khan and Wali Khan, Aimal Wali declared that it was not possible to destroy the ANP as it was formed by the Pakhtun nation without the support of the powers that be.

He said that when the ANP talked about the rights of Pakhtun nation, certain quarters accused it of being anti-state or traitor.

He said the ANP followed the ideology of Bacha Khan and no one should expect them to take a stand against democracy.

He said that Karachi was the city of people belonging to all ethnicities and its citizens deserved compassion. He said that he would not forget the love the city had given to him.
