NAROWAL: A woman has been booked on Tuesday for allegedly chopping off genitals of her ex-husband after tranquilising him at her house at Dharma Kot in Daska tehsil.

According to complainant, Zubair, his brother Amir (30), a resident of Harpoki village of Kamoke tehsil of Gujranwala district had married a woman, Shahida Ilyas of Dharma Kot in 2021.

He said that later his brother divorced Shahida and contracted second marriage.

He said that on the night of Jan 26 (Sunday), Shahida invited Amir to her house on the pretext of returning their old photographs and some gifts.

When Amir went to her house, Shahida served him juice spiked with some strong tranqulizers, rendering him unconscious, he added.

He alleged that the suspect then chopped off his brother’s genitals with some sharp tool, leaving him critically injured.

The injured man was shifted by Rescue 1122 to the Government Hospital, Gujranwala, where his condition was said to be critical.

Acting on the complaint, Satrah police have registered a case against the suspect under sections 324, 334 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and started investigations.

SUICIDE: An inmate was found hanged in his cell under mysterious circumstances in Narowal district jail.

According to police, Shahbaz, son of Allah Ditta, was serving a 10-year term in a drug smuggling case.

They said the inmate’s body was found hanged from a ceiling fan in his cell, while the jail officials claim that he died by suicide.

On being informed of the incident, the jail administration, along with police investigation and forensic teams arrived on the spot and collected evidence, besides recording statements of the jail staff.

The police later shifted the body to the Narowal district headquarters hospital for the postmortem examination and necessary legal action.
