SAHIWAL: A woman fired a shot at her husband, who had contracted a second marriage without her permission, but instead critically injured a seven-year-old neighbour’s girl in village 46/GD, Sahiwal, late on Monday.
Noor Shah police booked Sana Bibi and her two guards on a complaint by her husband, Mahar Wali.
None of the suspects have been arrested yet.
Reports said Wali, a local landlord, had contracted a second marriage without Sana’s consent three months ago. When Sana learned about the marriage, she called her husband to confirm it and threatened to teach him a lesson. Wali ignored her threat, but to his surprise, Sana arrived at his farmhouse with two men just 15 minutes later.
Wali was sitting with his friends when Sana pointed her repeater pistol at him and opened fire. Wali managed to jump aside and save himself, but the shot hit seven-year-old Noor Fatima, who was playing in the street behind the farmhouse.
After firing two shots, Sana fled.
Wali and his friends rushed the critically injured Noor Fatima to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, where doctors described her condition as critical.
BHUs CLOSED DOWN: On the direction of the chief minister, six rural-based basic health units (BHUs) were closed down, and their in charge medical officers, including three female medical officers, were removed from service in Sahiwal district.
