Lakki police issue security advisory to banks

LAKKI MARWAT: In view of the prevailing law and order situation, the Lakki Marwat police have issued a security advisory for banks, and asked them to implement it in letter and spirit.

The security-related standard operating procedures were shared with the bank managers at a meeting held at the police lines in Tajazai on Wednesday with district police officer Mohammad Jawad Ishaq in the chair.

An official privy to the meeting told Dawn that the district police chief asked the bank managers to deploy security guards on their premises.

“The DPO also told the bank officials that the police were fully alert and capable of countering any threat,” he said, adding that the true implementation of security guidelines would help avert any untoward incident.

Also in the day, DPO Ishaq rewarded social media influencers with commendation certificates and shields in recognition of their services to promote the soft and positive image of the police.

Mr Ishaq said close liaison between police and public was inevitable to achieve the goals of lasting peace and a crime-free society.

He acknowledged the role of social media influencers with regard to bridging the gap between the police and citizens, and said joint efforts would help restore peace and eliminate crimes from the area.

TUG OF WAR CONTEST: Sixteen local teams participated in the tug of war competitions held in Landiwah town of Kurrum Par area here on Wednesday.

The district sports department organised the event on the instructions of deputy commissioner Zeeshan Abdullah under the Chief Minister Awami Sports Gala.

The festival also featured cricket, volleyball, football, handball, badminton and martial arts competitions.

A large number of people gathered to watch the matches.

The players of the winning teams along with their supporters celebrated their victory on drumbeats.

District sports officer Ihsanullah along with former union council nazim Akram Khan Advocate distributed trophies and prizes among the players of the winning and runner-up teams.
