GILGIT, April 21: The federal government is committed to providing clean water to the people of Northern Areas and 100 water purification plants will be established in the region by June 2006.

This was stated by Secretary Works, Northern Areas, Colonel Chaudhry Fazal Hussain here on Friday.

He said the plants would cost Rs120 million, adding that the amount had been provided under the president’s special development package for Northern Areas.

He said that work on the project was in full swing and would be completed within a fixed time.—APP
