Traffic chaos

Published January 30, 2025

I AM a regular commuter on M-9 motorway that connects Hyderabad city to Jamshoro, and further leads up to Karachi. During the course of travel, it is observed that heavy trailers, coaches and buses drive dangerously parallel to other vehicles, threatening many a life.

Such practices obstruct the normal flow of traffic from Hyderabad city to Jamshoro, making it almost impossible for the commuters behind these long vehicles to move ahead. Since this traffic blockage mostly occurs during early hours, the commuters going for work and students to universities face enormous difficulties to reach their destinations on time.

As a matter of fact, in Jamshoro, which is practically a city of educational insti-tutions, hundreds of university students remain behind schedule as a matter of routine. Moreover, such reckless driving on the part of errant drivers may lead to serious accidents resulting in the loss of precious lives or damage to vehicles.

Unfortunately, the motorway police personnel, generally known for their professionalism, are not seen anywhere to pre-empt traffic violations, or to penalise the culprits. The relevant authorities need to wake up and do the needful.
