DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Gomal University suspended academic activities on its Quaid-i-Azam campus here following a protest by students at Allah Nawaz Law College on Thursday.
The protest erupted after the university administration postponed the law college exams, prompting a large number of students to set up a protest camp on Quaid-i-Azam campus.
The university administration later closed that campus for academic activities, with the students accusing the administration of “attempting to conceal corruption through such actions”.
They also complained that the acting vice chancellor didn’t visit the campus regularly and showed up only to collect fuel benefits.
The students said the acting VC had no interest in addressing academic or administrative matters.

However, the administration claimed that the exams were postponed due to non-payment of fees by students.
The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine exam to be held on the Quaid-i-Azam Campus was also postponed.
The students warned that if their exams are not conducted as per schedule, they would stage a protest outside the Chief Minister’s House.
In a statement, the university administration said the social media reports about Nawab Allah Nawaz Law College are “completely false, baseless, and contrary to the facts.” It added that terminal exams across the university were conducted peacefully, and students were granted semester breaks in accordance with academic regulations.
The administration said students of the Nawab Allah Nawaz Law College had to clear Rs17.6 million dues.
It added that in 2023, the students took the matter to the Peshawar High Court for decision.
Also, heated exchanges took place between the acting VC and law college students, prompting the former to lodge an FIR against the latter with the University Police Station.
