Published April 22, 2006

SUKKUR, April 21: Despite repeated announcements by the federal minister for water and power and Wapda chairman that no load-shedding will be carried out, the Hesco is continuing undeclared shutdowns adding to hardships of the people.

Due to frequent power failures, the business community is facing more problems and sudden power outage is also adding to street crimes.

Hesco used to take eight to 10 hours long shutdowns in the winter season in the name of maintenance and with the plea that the maintenance would help smooth supply of power in the summer season.
