QUETTA: Unknown armed men shot dead the assistant superintendent of Quetta district jail on Tuesday.

Police said Muhammad Qasim Raisani was targeted on the busy jail road of the provincial capital when he was on way to district jail in his car for duty.

When the police official reached in front of the Marker Factory, armed men on motorcycles opened fire, killing him on the spot.

Police rushed to the area and shifted the body of the police officer to civil hospital.

Hospital officials said that the deceased suffered multiple bullet injuries on his head and upper portion of the body that caused his immediate death.

Police said the incident appears to be a case of target killing as no one has claimed responsibility so far.
