TOBA TEK SINGH: Two people died when a car struck a truck from behind on Motorway M-3 near the Jaranwala rest area, Faisalabad interchange, on Sunday.
Reports said that due to speeding, the driver of the car, travelling from Multan to Lahore, lost control of the steering and hit the truck while overtaking. As a result, two riders sustained serious injuries and died instantly.
One of the deceased was identified as Mansab Ali, 28, of Nankana Sahib, while the other could not be identified till the filing of this report. Their bodies were shifted to Jaranwala THQ Hospital.
Meanwhile, a man from Faisalabad died and his son and daughter were critically injured when his car overturned near Adda Darbar Allah Hu on Makhdoompur-Deenpur Road in Khanewal on Sunday.
According to a Rescue 1122 report, the accident occurred due to speeding. The deceased was identified as Haji Mubarak Ali. His injured son, Ansar Ali, 20, and daughter, Aleezay, 8, were shifted to Khanewal DHQ Hospital.
ACE: A team of the Toba Tek Singh Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), headed by Circle Officer Syed Asif Hussain and supervised by Pirmahal Judicial Magistrate Umar Hayat Jawad, arrested a government high school teacher in Chak 320 GB on Sunday for accepting a bribe.
Complainant Allah Ditta of Chak 336 GB had reported to the ACE director that the accused teacher, Amer Mahmood, had received Rs10,000 from him to provide a job for his son and was now demanding another Rs30,000. The magistrate recovered marked currency notes from the pocket of the accused.
MURDER: A farmer was mysteriously murdered at his outhouse in Chak 298 JB, Gojra, on Sunday. Reports said Yasir Iqbal, 38, was asleep at his outhouse when his brother took breakfast for him in the morning and found him unconscious on a charpoy with a bullet wound to his head.
He was shifted to Gojra, where he succumbed to his injury. Gojra City police have started an investigation.
ENCOUNTER: An alleged robber was killed in an encounter with Rajana police near Chak 187 GB, Toba, on Sunday. Police claimed that three dacoits had stolen a farmer’s cow. After being informed, a police party chased them. The suspects took cover in crops and opened fire on the police, which was returned.
When the firing stopped, police found one of the three outlaws dead while his two accomplices had fled. He was identified as Liaqat Ali Sohna of Chak 724 GB, Kamalia, who was wanted by Toba and Sahiwal police in a dozen robbery cases. Police said he was killed by bullets fired by his own accomplices.
RAPE: A girl was allegedly raped in Jameel Abad locality, Faisalabad, on Sunday.
The complainant stated in his FIR, registered under Section 376 of the PPC at Ghulam Muhammad Abad police station, that his daughter had gone to the rooftop to collect dried clothes when their neighbour overpowered and raped her.
When she raised an alarm, the complainant rushed to the roof, but the suspect fled. Police claimed the accused had been arrested.
ACCIDENT: A woman died after being run over by a sugarcane-laden tractor-trolley near Chak 306 GB on Toba-Shorkot Cantonment Road on Sunday.
Reports said that Safia Bibi, 45, of Housing Colony No. 2, Toba, was travelling to Shorkot on a motorcycle with her son when they slipped and fell. A tractor-trolley coming from behind ran over her, critically wounding her. She died instantly.
