HYDERABAD, April 23: Sindh Taraqi Passand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has criticised the proposed bifurcation of the Thatta district terming it a conspiracy against Sindh.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he alleged that the division of Sindh was the old dream of the MQM for which a headquarter had been set up in London to seek the blessings of foreign powers.

Dr Magsi, who is also president of the Sindh PONM chapter, said that due to strong resistance by the people of Sindh against the conspiracy, the MQM had changed its strategy only for the time being and once again raised the slogan of friendship with the people of Sindh.

The STPP chairman said that the MQM was working for the creation of a separate province right from Karachi to Tharparkar based on the coastal belt.

He said that the province would also include the Dhabeji district which is the industrial part of the Thatta district.

He alleged that thousands of acres of land had already been purchased by the local people in the area in the name of industrial zone.

He said that issuing of NICs to outsiders, creation of districts and talukas on the ethnic basis and the reopening of Khokhropar route were the chains of the new province.

He said that if the Sindhis did not unite on one platform to foil the conspiracy, it would be a great tragedy of history.

PROTEST: Residents of Mehram Sanjrani village of Tando Allahyar district, including women, staged a demonstration on the press club road here on Sunday in protest against alleged tyranny of a Qaimkhani zamindar.

Speaking on the occasion, Razzaq Sanjrani, Gul Mohammad Sanjrani and Akhtar Sanjrani said that some people had remained haris of the zamindar for the last 10 years.

They said when they asked for the details of crop and income, they were ejected from the lands.

They said that the zamindar also registered a false case at the Tando Allahyar police station against 28 people.

They alleged that Mr Qaimkhani belonged to a terrorist group and was a ringleader of criminal gangs.

They appealed to the authorities to order an impartial inquiry of the case and restore justice to poor haris by setting their accounts about crops.
