DADU: Twelve employees of the auqaf department posted at the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar have been suspended for their alleged involvement in swindling visiting devotees.

The action was taken by the department’s chief administrator Farrukh Shahzad Qureshi on Friday after Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took a serious notice of a video, which went viral on the social media, showing the suspects collecting offerings from visiting devotees instead of advising them to use the donation boxes placed within the shrine for the purpose.

The CM asked the auqaf secretary for a detailed report on the scam.
