HARIPUR: A man allegedly shot dead his sister in the name of honour, police said here on Saturday.

The police quoted a resident of Batrasi village as saying that his daughter, 21, had run away with a man five days ago, but she was brought back on the condition of marrying her with the man of her choice.

However, on Friday evening she was sleeping in her bedroom when her brother entered her room and opened fire with a pistol, killing her on the spot.

The body was shifted to the trauma centre, where the father charged his son with the murder of his daughter.

The police registered a case against the accused under sections 302 and 311 of Pakistan Penal Code. However, he could not be apprehended, the police said.
