DACCA: Over one lakh Muslims in the city of Calcutta alone have been completely uprooted in the West Bengal holocaust, organised by the RSS and Congressmen in power, according to latest reports from that province. Figures for other districts in West Bengal are not yet available. The [reported] number of Muslims killed … is very high. An idea of this can be had from the fact that all smaller pockets with Muslim population in and around Calcutta have been wiped out.

Besides nearly 50,000 homeless Muslim victims, including a large number of women and children, rendered widows and orphans, are strained in Park Circus locality of Calcutta. Hundreds of Indian Muslims, having lost there all, are pouring into East Pakistan through all available routes. Many are being evacuated by planes … .

[Meanwhile, as reported from Dacca,] “Looted property, including gold ornaments, are being returned voluntarily to their owners and confidence is rapidly returning among members of the minority community in areas affected by recent events,” says Mr Khairat Hossain, member of the East Pakistan Assembly in a statement.
