KARACHI: The Pakistan Literature Festival (PLF) Sukkur Chapter-II organised by the Arts Council of Pakistan will be held on Feb 25 for two days at IBA Sukkur. This was announced by the council’s President Ahmed Shah at a press conference here on Thursday afternoon.

Mr Shah said there will be more than 30 sessions at the event focusing on a variety of issues such as higher education, school education and violence against women. “This time around, we have included sessions on the economy on which experts will speak.

Mushahid Husain Syed will talk about diplomacy. Political economist Yousuf Nazar will accompany us as well. Apart from that, renowned poets and writers will be there in Sukkur. We also have a huge concert. Then there are sessions on AI, digital media, purposeful education, and new leadership in the digital age etc.”

He said the festival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah at 10:30am on Feb 25.

Three venues will hold simultaneous sessions. Mr Shah said: “We have lost a great poet from Sindh, Akash Ansari, in tragic circumstances. We had kept a separate session with him. But now that he’s no more, that session has been converted to a tribute to Akash Ansari”.

Tributes will also be paid to Zulfiqar Siyal, the author of more than 20 books, who passed away recently.

What’s been written in Sindhi literature in the 21st century will be discussed, too, Mr Shah said.
