NAWABSHAH: Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, a key leader of the Grand Democratic Alliance and former federal minister, was granted bail in a sum of Rs200,000 in a murder case on Thursday.
He was supposed to be produced in the Naushahro Feroze Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) for the hearing of his case but the police informed the court that he could not be brought to the court because he had already been shifted to the Nara prison in Hyderabad on a directive of the provincial police chief. The ATC judge expressed his anger over the excuse.
Jatoi’s counsel Advocate Abdullah Korai and Advocate Gulzar, speaking to the media outside the court, said that the judge had remanded Jatoi in judicial custody a couple of days back and that their client was supposed to be kept at the district jail. “However, he was shifted to the Nara prison in Hyderabad with ill intentions,” they alleged.
The FIR in which Jatoi had been nominated pertains to the murder of a PPP worker, Bilawal, during the February 2024 electioneering.
