PESHAWAR: ‘Zooq-e-Perwaaz’, a travelogue, penned by Dr Fasihuddin Ashraf, commandant Police Training College Hangu, was launched here on Thursday.

The book launching ceremony took place at the fourth Dosti Peshawar Literature Festival at the Area Study Center, University of Peshawar.

A statement issued here said that writers and academics including Prof Nasar Ali Sayid, Prof Khalid Sohail Malak, Prof Sadia Khalil, Prof Tehseen Bibi, Prof Hussain Sherazi, Prof Ishaque Wardag, Prof Ejazul Hasan and Dr Imran Ahmad Sajid critically evaluated the book, its style, diction and contents. Prof Dr Tajjuddin Tajwar presided over the function.

On the occasion, they heaped praise on Dr Ashraf for his exemplary contribution to literature, research and indigenous scholarship.

The scholars termed the book as a trend-setter in the series of books on travel and journey and a great addition to Urdu literature on national and international issues, affecting Pakistan and its citizens.

The author, Dr Fasihuddin Ashraf, narrated a brief account of his presentation in more than 40 international conferences across the world, which he attended from 2005 to 2019, the basic stories and discussions now compiled in his travelogue, Zooq-e-Perwaaz.

The book has been selected by University of Peshawar and Women University Mardan for MPhil Research, it was announced.
