RAHIM YAR KHAN: Six passengers were killed and five others sustained injuries when a speeding passenger coach collided with a motorcycle loader rickshaw on the National Highway (N-5) near Zahirpir, about 55 kilometres from here, on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122 sources, the accident occurred near Adda Mochiwala, close to Al Firdous Restaurant. Due to dense fog and speeding, the coach rammed into the rickshaw from behind, causing it to break into two pieces.

Four people — Naseer Ahmed (42), Allah Bakhsh (40), Afzal (35) and Hashim (35) — died on the spot. The injured, identified as Muhammad Saleem (25), Waseem (28), Imtiaz (39), Zahid (30), and Naveed (30) were rushed to Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.

Two critically injured victims, Shafiq (35) and Shahnawaz (25), were taken to THQ Hospital Khanpur, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

All the deceased and injured were residents of Ghazipur.

Further investigation is under way.
