PESHAWAR: In light of the Meteorological Department’s forecast, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has deployed special additional teams to ensure the drainage system is cleared and rainwater from low-lying areas is swiftly drained during the ongoing rains and expected showers in Ramazan.

Following the instructions of WSSP chief executive officer Yasir Ali Khan, zonal managers will closely monitor rain operations in their respective areas. To ensure immediate response to any emergency, staff leaves have been cancelled, according to a statement issued here on Wednesday.

The WSSP said littering and plastic bags were major causes of blockage of drains. It urged people to cooperate with its staff by disposing of waste at designated points only to prevent disruptions during rain.
