As the clock reached 11, we suddenly heard the deafening ringing of the bell, indicating it was recess time. A surge of relief rushed down my body and I was overjoyed. My least favourite lesson had been going on, and I felt like sprinting out of the classroom.

I hastily grabbed my lunchbox, filled with my favourite scrumptious snack, and my huge chilled water bottle. With that, I headed out of the classroom. My friends tagged along with me and we three made our way across the brightly lit and long corridors.

I was feeling a bit drowsy, which I assessed was due to the lack of sleep l had gotten last night. Meanwhile, my friends were as energetic as ever. After some walking, we finally reached the grounds and began searching for a comfortable spot to sit. Thankfully, our usual spot was vacant so we got seated over there.

The spot was a wooden bench, neatly painted green. It faced the vast basketball court on one side and the serene ground on the other. It was also covered by a canopy on the top. Along with munching on our snacks, we also got to enjoy some intense matches of basketball.

We were having a blast together and were able to get a bit refreshed after all those consecutive and exhausting lessons. It was an extremely pleasant day as huge magnificent clouds were gracefully sweeping through the sky. They seemed to be filled with water and we predicted that it would soon start raining. Sure enough, in no time, the clouds began thundering loudly and huge droplets of rainfall were descending from the sky. We were lucky to be sitting under a shade as other students from all over the grounds rushed to the nearest shade, dripping wet.

That was when we once again heard the ringing of the bell, signalling the end of the break. I was a bit disappointed as all the fun had just started and I wanted to enjoy the rain. It had made the whole place look ten times more serene and heavy winds were blowing, carrying away with them all the trash that had been thrown on the ground.

Slowly, we made our way up to the class. It was Pakistan Studies next and I seriously didn’t feel like studying at all. My friends shared the same feeling too.

After waiting for a few minutes for the Pakistan Studies teacher to arrive, another teacher entered the class and told us that our teacher was very busy in an urgent meeting so she would be substituting in her place.

The new teacher was very nice and told us that we could do as we pleased in the class as long as we didn’t make too much noise.

This led to exclamations of joy from everyone and we spent the rest of the period looking out of the window to admire the beautiful weather and talking softly amongst ourselves.

Sometimes, lady luck arrives in the most unexpected ways!
