LAHORE: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) have warned motorists of lodging FIRs for exceeding speed limits to 150km/hour.

For this purpose, the motorway authorities launched a special campaign against speed limit violations on the orders of NH&MP IG Riffat Mukhtar Raja to first create awareness.

An official said the police had been given instructions to give a clear warning to the drivers that they would have to face criminal cases for reaching or exceeding 150 km/hour speed on the motorways.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the NH&MP spokesman said FIRs would be got registered against the drivers and vehicle would be impounded.

Generally, the speed limit on motorways for cars, jeep and LTV vehicles is 120 km/h and 110 km/h for heavy transport vehicles.
