LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party leaders in Punjab have been asked to be patient until the next budget as things will get better by that time.

Punjab Governor Saleem Haider said in a media talk here on Friday that President Zardari, who is also co-chairperson of the PPP, told Punjab leadership in a recent meeting that they should have a heart and keep tolerating all the injustices the party is facing at the hands of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the province, assuring them that the issues will be resolved by the next budget (due in June).

He said that President Zardari as well as chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would now frequently visit Lahore to improve the party’s stakes in provincial politics.

Governor Haider said that the party leadership was also directed to make full preparations for the local body elections in Punjab so that it could claim its due right at the third tier of governance.

Responding to a query, he reiterated that the PPP is supporting the PML-N for the sake of the country and not out of any love for the party of the Sharifs. “We have a compulsion in the coalition to support the ruling party for the sake of the country and to improve the (governance and economic) systems of the country to steer it out of the hot waters.”
