BAHAWALNAGAR: A journalist, along with his media team, has been booked in Haroonabad for entering a classroom of a public school without permission, questioning a schoolteacher about discipline, slapping and thrashing him during the conversation and damaging the school property.

According to the FIR registered with Saddar police, at about 12pm on Feb 28, journalist Imran Arshad of Haroonabad visited the Govt High School of Chak 30/3-R along with his media team and entered the classroom without getting permission when the teacher, Zahid Hameed, was teaching the ninth graders. The journalist started questioning the teacher about school discipline and the grant received by the school administration and its utilisation.

During the conversation, the journalist got angry and started slapping and punching the teacher. His team members grabbed the arms of the teacher and threatened to kill him by displaying a pistol.

Police booked the media team and started an investigation.

On the other hand, while talking to the media, Imran Arshad declared the FIR fabricated and claimed that they did not attack anyone which could be confirmed from the CCTV cameras installed in the school.
