LAHORE: The Pakistan Rugby Union’s (PRU) general council has elected its new office-bearers unopposed for the 2025-2029 term.

Arif Saeed was re-elected as chairman, while Salman Muzaffar Sheikh retained his position as secretary general. Rizwan-ur-Rab Malik, also vice-president of the Asian Rugby Union, was elected as the new president.

Four vice-presidents — Tahira Saleem, Muzammil Khan Wazeeri, Naeem Javed and Mohsin Iqbal Khan — were also elected, along with treasurer Haroon Naseem.

The PRU’s executive committee was also formed, comprising seven members: Ms. Raheela, Tariq Khan Niazi, M. Tahir, Umair Tariq, Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain Haider, Samar Hayat and Hammad Safdar. Shireen Hina Asghar was elected as the women’s representative.

The general council meeting was attended by representatives from the Pakistan Olympic Association, Pakistan Sports Board and the Asian Rugby Union, the PRU said in a press release.
