INTERNET CONNECTION: For the last several weeks, the internet connection of the Liaquat Memorial Library’s main section has been unreliable, leaving countless students in the lurch. Despite numerous complaints, the library admin-istration has taken no action to resolve the problem. This lack of response is deeply disappointing. The authorities should take immediate remedial action.

EXAM PRESSURE: As a university student, I feel extremely burdened and stressed about my upcoming exams. The university conducted midterm exams in January, and has now scheduled final exams just a few weeks later. The teachers have not completed their courses yet. Furthermore, the students have not carried out the necessary laboratory assignments that are a crucial requirement for the degree. This is an act of sheer and unjustified commercialisation.

SUICIDE CASES: Suicide cases have jumped alarmingly in Larkana and Sukkur divisions over the last few years. It is apparent that tough living conditions are taking their toll on people’s mental health, leaving them clinically depressed. All the relevant stakeholders must take practical steps to prevent a surge in suicides in the rural areas of the province.

POOR PENSIONERS: The remuneration of parliamentarians has recently been increased astronomically. They also get other benefits, including free travel and accommodation. On the other hand, the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) pensioners are getting Rs10,000 per month for the last several years. Can the government even imagine how these pensioners are pulling through in this paltry sum considering the sky-rocketing prices and inflated utility bills? Nobody in the corridors of power has any sympathy for the pensioners who have been suffering for long.
