MUZAFFARGARH: Jatoi police registered a case against 51 people for attacking a joint team of police and revenue department during a land retrieval raid atBeit Suleman village

A revenue and police team faced violent resistance while attempting to retrieve land on court orders. The illegal occupants allegedly attacked the officials, assaulting the Patwari and police personnel.

Police said the suspects vandalised and set fire to a tractor and other equipment. A police officer’s uniform was also torn and burned. In response, a heavy contingent of police was deployed to control the situation.

Jatoi police registered a case against 51 individuals, including 31 identified and 20 unidentified suspects, under sections 324, 382, 353, 447, 511, 440, 506B, 148, and 149 of the PPC.

The revenue and police team was acting on a court order to retrieve land belonging to Ms Zahida Batool, daughter of Khalil Ahmad Shah. Upon their arrival, more than three dozen individuals, along with 20 unidentified suspects, launched an attack on them, attempting to set fire to a tractor and other equipment.

The attackers briefly detained the officials, but reinforcements were called in, and police successfully rescued them. The case was registered on the complaint of the patwari.

CHICKEN SELLERS: Chicken sellers in Karor Lal Eesan went on a strike, staging a protest on the road while holding placards against the district administration. They claimed that they purchase chickens at high prices from dealers and cannot sell at lower rates.

On Tuesday, the vendors chanted slogans against the administration in response to fines imposed by the Karor assistant commissioner on Monday for selling chicken meat at inflated prices.

The protesters argued that the official price list issued by the administration does not match the rates at which they purchase from wholesalers. They demanded action against major chicken dealers who, according to them, set their own prices, making it impossible for retailers to sell at the administration’s fixed rates.

The vendors warned that if officials continue to fine them, they will boycott sales, leading to a shortage of chicken meat in the market.
