LAHORE: The district administration on Saturday had two fake price control magistrates arrested in the Kharak area near Multan Road.

The fake magistrates, Syed Aftab Hussain and Nazir Hussain, were arrested after special price control magistrate Riaz Gujjar was on duty to check the Ramazan operations. Mr Gujjar while checking prices in the open market near Kharak found two men there who introduced themselves as officials from the DC office.

On suspicion, the magistrate got them searched and found fake fine slip books and other material on them. He called the police to arrest them. An FIR has also been registered against them. The suspects confessed about impersonating price control magistrates and looting the vendors.

On the other hand, Lahore DC Syed Musa Raza claims that positive effects have started appearing due to vigorous actions of the price control magistrates.

“Heavy fines are being imposed on violations and cases are being registered,” he said and added that the crackdown on overcharging would continue.
