PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples’ Party MPA Ahmed Kareem Kundi on Monday submitted a resolution with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly secretariate, demanding the immediate reopening of the Torkham border.

The resolution stated that both Pakistan and Afghanistan were brotherly Islamic countries and there was one of the longest borders in the world between the two countries, on which there were many entry points/corridors, of which the busiest was the Torkham border crossing.

The MPA stated in the resolution: “Unfortunately the border has been closed for all types of movement for the last 16 days, due to which the movement of people from both the sides, especially trade activities, have been suspended.”

He said due to closure of the border the business community was facing irreparable losses of billions of rupees.

He demanded of the KP Assembly to recommend the federal government to take steps for the reopening of the border as soon as possible so that trade activities as well as movement between the two countries could be restored.
