A TALENTED SOUL: Zunaira Qayum Baloch is a young, talented and hard-working girl of Hub in Balochistan who has represented Pakistan at national and international platforms. She has been appointed as the Youth Advocate for Climate Action and Girls Empowerment by Unicef Pakistan after her writeup about how floods affect girls’ education in Hub was acknowledged in 2023.
Her story proves that the girls of Balochistan are extremely talented. All they need is support and opportunity. We must encourage and support our girls so they may enjoy their progress.

DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER: This is with reference to the letter ‘Banking woes’ (March 1) which complained about the writer’s visits to the bank and closure of his account due to negative balance. As such, from the contents of the letter, it appears that the bank was justified in calling the customer in person for recovering the overdrawn amount, and then closing the account. However, anyone with a complaint may get in touch with the Customer Complaint Management Service of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), mentioning the name of bank and its branch as well as account particulars. DANGEROUS SIGNAGE: The place-ment of a directional signage on a busy footpath at the Fatima Jinnah Road in Karachi is highly inappropriate. It has been installed in a hazardous manner that can injure someone, especially at night or in conditions of low visibility. If the intention behind erecting it was to guide people towards the Lilly Bridge, it should have been placed along the roadside in a more visible and suitable manner. Its current location does not serve the purpose at all. It is time for the authorities concerned to take immediate action to remove this obstruction, and install an appropriate signage at a more effective location.
