LAKKI MARWAT: A court on Tuesday convicted a murder accused and handed him life imprisonment.

Additional Sessions Judge-II, Lakki Marwat, Islamuddin announced the verdict.

According to the FIR registered under sections 302, 324 of Pakistan Penal Code and 15-AA in the Tajori police station, complainant Waseeur Rehman said on April 10, 2022, he and his brother, Attaur Rehman, were going to their home from Tajori Bazaar, when their cousin, Fahimul Haq opened fire on them with a pistol, killing his brother on the spot. Luckily, he said he remained unhurt.

The judge held that the prosecution was able to prove its case against the accused on the basis of strong, convincing, coherent and reliable evidence supported and corroborated by corroborative pieces of evidence.

“Keeping in view the nature and gravity of offence along with the motive, which has not been proved, as a mitigating circumstance, the accused is deemed entitled to leniency in the matter of sentence,” he pronounced.

He awarded life imprisonment to Fahimul Haq and imposed a fine of R500,000 on him as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased.

In case of default, the convict will further undergo six months simple imprisonment.
