PESHAWAR: Anti-Corruption Establishment, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday arrested two officials of the food department for allegedly committing irregularities in wheat handling at a godown in Azakhel area of Nowshera district.

A statement issued by ACE said that the department launched an inquiry after receiving complaints that 1,700 metric tonnes of wheat worth Rs190.77 million and 3,309 empty bags were missing from the godown. It said the anti-corruption watchdog also recorded statements of several individuals.

The statement said that the anti-corruption watchdog had filed cases against the six accused at the ACE police station in Nowshera.

The statement said two of the accused had been arrested, and efforts were under way to arrest the rest of them.
