NH&MP rescue man, arrest three ‘kidnappers’

BAHAWALPUR: National Highway & Motorway Police (NH&MP) claimed to have arrested three “kidnappers” on Thursday, rescuing a man who was allegedly honey-trapped by the suspects, in an operation on Multan-Sukkur Motorway-V near Uch Sharif, about 70km from here.

According to NHMP officials, they intercepted a suspicious car on M-V and during checking it transpired that one of the car occupants, identified as Afzal was allegedly honey-trapped and kidnapped for ransom by three suspects from Sargodha.

The officials said the kidnappers were allegedly taking Afzal to Katcha area of Rahim Yar Khan to detain him an demand ransom from his family for his release.

After apprehending the three armed suspects present in the car, the NH&MP officials handed them over to Uch Sharif police. The police also impounded the car and started investigations.

SUICIDE BID: A man allegedly attempted suicide by setting himself on fire on a city road, but was timely saved and shifted to hospital by Rescue 1122.

As per Rescue 1122 officials, one Ayyaz (36) doused himself in petrol and set himself ablaze on Rafiq Qamar Road in Satellite Town, Bahawalpur, on Thursday.

However, some passersby called emergency rescue service officials, who arrived on the spot, overpowered the man and extinguished fire.

The rescuers shifted the seriously burnt man to hospital, where doctors said that he suffered over 70 percent burns.

A Baghdadul Jadid police official said Ayaz attempted suicide over family disputes.

Meanwhile, according to Lodhran Rescuers 1122 service, an unidentified man ended his own life by throwing himself in front of Lahore-bound Al-Farid Express near Lodhran railway station.

Police shifted the body to Lodhran DHQ hospital for identification.

ARRESTED: Qutabpur police in Lodhran district claimed to have arrested a man whoattempted to rape a girl in Garden Town.

According to police, the suspect, along with his two unidentified accomplices, barged into the girl’s house and with their help attempted to rape her.

However, as the girl raised an alarm, the suspects accomplices managed to flee, while locals nabbed the suspect and locked him in a room. Later, he was handed over to the police.

In another incident, reported toMuzzaffarabad police in Multan district, a woman was allegedly raped by a man, who entered her house on the pretext of using her phone.

On the complaint of the woman’s brother, Hanif, the police registered a rape case against the suspect, and later claimed to have arrested him.
