ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Thursday gave a two-month deadline to the National Highway Authority (NHA) to improve its performance.

“The minister directed members and officials of NHA to improve their performance or go home,” an official statement said.

The minister emphasised delays will not be tolerated and any officer failing to perform up to the mark will be sent home.

The minister expressed his displeasure with the output of NHA and directed all officials to ensure transparency in development projects.

He stressed the need for timely completion of road construction projects adding that delays significantly increase costs of the projects.

He urged NHA officers to work with dedication, commitment and diligence and ensure effective and efficient use of public funds.

During a meeting, NHA officials briefed the minister regarding ongoing and proposed road projects in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country.
