SARGODHA: In the wake of a meat sellers’ strike in Sargodha city, the price of chicken meat has surged from Rs600 per kg to Rs750, which citizens have condemned as unfair and exploitative.
They have demanded action against chicken sellers, similar to a crackdown on butchers.
According to sources, shopkeepers observed a shutter-down strike in protest at government’s action against those selling meat at inflated rates. As a result, the price of chicken skyrocketed to Rs750 per kg in the city.
Ahmad Hassan, a representative of the Citizens Forum, called for immediate intervention to regulate chicken prices.
MAN DIES: A man was buried under debris when the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed on him due to heavy rain in in Pul 111, Gulshan Town, on Sargodha-Faisalabad Road.
The body was recovered and handed over to his family.
According to sources, Muhammad Hanif, 35-year-old resident, was trapped under the rubble and was retrieved dead.
ENCOUNTER: A dacoit was shot dead in an alleged police encounter near Sargodha, while his accomplices fled, leaving his body behind.
The police shifted the body to the hospital for postmortem and launched an investigation to track down the others.
According to sources, the incident occurred near Midh Ranjha town, where the dacoit was reportedly killed in firing by his accomplices.
The deceased was identified as Nasru Muslim Sheikh of Khumb Kahna, a most-wanted criminal involved in multiple cases.
The police are searching for his accomplices.
SCAMMER: A group conducting a survey under the name of the Ramazan Negahban Package on the outskirts of Sargodha has been collecting Rs200 per person and tricking them into accepting a cheque of Rs10,000. Locals have called for an investigation and action against the culprits.
According to sources, in Chak 76 Samuranwali and Union Council Chak 74 SB of Bhagtanwala town, a man and a woman have been introducing themselves as representatives of the chief minister’s Ramazan Negahban Package. The locals have reported the fraudulent activity and demanded strict action against those involved.
